"My Munsterlander!"

This is Brook, one of my own munsters! This is Brook as she should be - out and about and happy! today she is none of those things!! got a poorly foot and is as miserable as can be!! We often joke she is not the "sharpest knife in the drawer" and in this photo she looks especially "silly" but she has a lovely nature, and is very pretty!!!

What a wonderful wide open space! and maybe you cannot see the munster too clearly - but you get the feel of the great outdoors and Munsterlander bliss!!

Bentley is "by" Zeb, and "on paper" his pedigree is very similar to that of our Rumour, and Jenny's Visa, Zeb is also "Dad" to Sweet Meadow, belonging to Barbara........ small world of munsters!! Really must get that "family tree" drawn up!!!

I came in here, and sat at my computer and thought "what shall I use today?" opened my e-mails and found this picture, taken earlier today and sent to me by Eric Watson. It is Sharon Miller and Floyd, or Sh. Ch. Yeldoaks Hot Pursuit JW., they went to an open show earlier today Floyd did well and got a Group 2 placing!!! The wonders of modern technology! a show at the other end of the country earlier today, and across the World in minutes!!

Lana and Brook went to an Open Show and both won their classes (have to admit not a huge entry! only something like eight dogs?) so when it came to the "challenge" for Best of Breed Lana got herself a new handler - Lorraine - definitely a case of do not know who you are -but

This is Sweet Meadow, owned by Barbara Butler, this picture was taken at Darlington Dog Show on Sunday last. Meadow (and owner Barbara!) is a lovely, happy natured girl - Good, beautiful, clever - and we are very modest with it!!!!!!

Of all the people who suggested possible scenario's for the "who did what" pic sequence over the last couple of days, only Lori got it right - so using Lori's dog Desi tonight as Daily Dog!! So here is Desi, in the foliage, lovely colours and a feeling of space! Desi, of course, is from American but she reminds me so much of Brook!!!!!!!!!

The answer - was BROOK! Brook decided had had enough of posing, and as usual incited Lex and Lana to riot............ Rumour, who Jenny was sure was the culprit, looked on in disgust at their antics - a far superior being!!

This is Dylan, that large Munsterlander belonging to Sharon Miller, he usually appears in my "Show reports" and is usually entered as NFC., or Not For Competition thesedays - however, yesterday at Darlington he was entered in Veteran Dog, he was second out of two!! but loved every minute of trotting around that ring!!! Remembered his "Glory Days" perhaps?? (Well he was "Best Large Munsterlander dog at Crufts" a few years back)

This is Summer, the large Munsterlander bitch belonging to Toni-ann, hunting in the sugar beet fields near to her home. Summer went to Darlington dog show today and just as the judge was about to "go over" her two dogs had a nasty "snap" at each other behind her - and put her right off!!!!!!!!!!!! Summer is such a sweetie she gets quite upset by such anti-social behaviour!!

Seems Pete has cracked the moving bit too!! Visa tended to "fight" with the lead, and "lean out", but her and Pete seem very much a team now! Oh Sir, what will the kids at school say?????

It is not often I feel compelled to use a dog in a show stand!! but this is Pete Moore and his beloved Visa, taken last week at Richmond by Brian Eastgate. It is so nice to see some sympathetic handling, and the "look of love" on the owners face, win or lose, Visa is the best!! That is what it should all be about!!!!!!!!!!! Well Done Pete - proud of ya!

Last night we had a picture of Summer over here in the UK., examining the smells of the countryside - tonight it is Desi doing the same thing - on the other side of the World - in the U.S.A!! A classic Munsterlander pose - and activity!! All too often over here we forget these dogs have strong hunting instincts and "working" natures!

"Holiday Munsterlanders"

Four Munsters and a baby!!! (We have had a film, "Three men and a baby") how about four munsters and a baby - or four munsters and a little lady? This is Fenella, with her own family dog - Otter - and three of Christine Webers dogs.. Fenella and family are on holiday in Scotland and stopped off for a "munster walk" with Christine and dogs!!

Desi, a large Munsterlander in the U.S., is very like Brook, in colouring, looks, and behaviour! Lori, who owns Desi, has also sent us pics of Desi out and about, and the background also bears a resemblance to the area in which we live (very flat land, with crops!) Not a very clear picture - but one that shows the character and nature of the breed! fun loving - especially where water is included!!

The picture last night of the dogs in the very elegant looking spa? THIS is one of those same dogs!! Before or after I am not sure!! This picture once appeared as part of a bookmark... a series of four pics, a "before", this pic, then one of him trying to wipe himself clean on the grass, and a final "pose" (anyone wanting one - still have some left!! only 50p each.....)

Not sure as should identify the owner of these lucky pair of Munsters - or we might all be nipping around there to relax in the spa!!! Talk about all mod. cons., a far cry from these service stations that seem to be setting up outside dog washing facilities, next to the car wash!!

"Datroy Munsterlanders"

Another of the "old" affixes - gone but not forgotten, behind many of the current lines. This is Datroy Shining Example, or Ace, back in the days of 1989 when he belonged to Dot Hunter. Ace was one of the last Munsterlanders ever bred under the Datroy affix!! He was born in 1986!

"Munster I love"

Yes, of course, is Curtis again....... just love this dogs head and expression. The title is a bit of a "memory lane" thing - does anyone remember the old Meevoli affix? ("I love 'em" backwards!)
At the dog show on Sunday we were talking about affixes - the old ones, long gone and sadly forgotten, and the new ones - will they be remembered?

"Small Munsterlander Wins.............!"

This is Bodica, owned by Suzanne, proudly showing a rosette from last weeks exemption show run by Barbara Butler in aid of Munsterlander Rescue. On the day Bodie came 2nd in the Companion Dog Members Class (1st time Suzanne had ever used membership!), 2nd in "dog judge would most like to take home", 1st "prettiest bitch" and the reserve in the novelty show. She also came 4th in the starter obedience - Suzanne tells me she only entered her (in the obedience) as a laugh!! Well done to Suzanne and Bodi, doesn't she look beautiful?
